1985 Flashback – Labatt Twist Shandy

Smirnoff has ads around Toronto for making a Smirnoff Rocket – mix 50% Smirnoff Ice with 50% beer. I’ll pass on this summer drink suggestion since I think Smirnoff Ice tastes like bad cough syrup. But it reminded me of 1985 when Labatt introduced Twist Shandy. A shandy is beer mixed with citrus-flavoured soda or lemonade. Labatt’s bottled variety is long forgotten now but maybe I’ll try making one on some hot summer day.
